Discussing and dissecting the Boston Red Sox

First in the tag cloud, last in your heart

February 24th, 2009 by Mark · 2 Comments · Jim Rice, Red Sox

I had planned to write a lengthy piece (you lucky readers, you) looking at how the media had fawned over the cheaters. Then I was looking at our tag cloud (it’s that doohickey off to the right with all the words in it) and saw that a certain Yankee third baseman was (and is) much, much too prominent.

I got to thinking: Is this a blog about cheaters and roiders? Seemed like it might be going in that direction. So, don’t expect any more of that from me.

The other bloggers here are free to write at will about certain infielders whose cousins procured and then administered over-the-counter performance enhancing drugs between the period of 2001 and 2003 (if you believe that). But me? I am going to steer clear of it, barring some massive, earth shattering development that forces me to chime in.

Count me among the herd who’s looking forward to Derek’s season preview and his stint as our Ft. Myers correspondent.

I’m looking forward to a lively discussion of the 2009 Red Sox season here on Year of the Sox. Will it be a championship year? Hard to tell, but it’s doubtful.

One thing I know will happen this year: Jim Ed will be inducted into the HoF. That will be a great day.

What are you looking forward to this season?

Yes, I think we need to try to shrink the size of the NYY and A-Rod tags in that cloud, but to be fair to us, those have been the big stories in an unusually quiet Spring Training for the Red Sox compared to past years. There really are NO stories at the moment. Julio Lugo’s incumbency at shortstop about as close as you get right now to anything controversy-like. I, for one, do not miss the Man-Ram drama. At all.

    I’m with you on Man-Ram.
